Hi Everyone,
I hope this newsletter finds you all well and safe. I have noticed all the posts where members are busy upgrading or just repairing their jeeps for this next season . And what a season it is going to be! The Board has already been very busy making plans and setting up the Club Calendar for 2022.
There will be the excellent Rookie Runs once again, organized and run by Adam and Tara. Also we are trying something a little different this year in offering 3 levels of trails to accommodate the amount of experience of the drivers and the types of modifications made to the jeeps. For example, if you have just started wheeling and have been on one or two Rookie Runs, with a stock Jeep, then you would probably feel more comfortable choosing a level 1 trail. This way, we are hoping that each driver will feel confident in choosing their trail . I hope I explained that clearly. When you go to the calendar to register, you will see what I mean. Please note that you won’t be able to register until March 1/22.
You will also see that we are planning camping weekends, bbqs, trail clean ups, charity runs, show and shine at Thunder in the Hills, and more. I’m getting excited just typing this. These trail runs take a lot of planning and Trail Guides, so if anyone feels they would like to be a Front Guide or Tail Gunner, please contact Mark-John Haug. We are hoping to have a Trail Guide training course near the beginning of the season.
Please remember that our season is not officially open until May 1. Even then, please keep in mind that the trails up here are very wet for a lot of May. It’s difficult to imagine sinking your Jeep on a trail if you live around the GTA where you will be looking at green grass and dry pavement. We have had a lot of snow and it takes a long time for the bush to dry up enough to travel through.
Another date to keep in mind is the OF4WD AGM which will be virtual again on Sunday, April 3/22
Hope to see many of you on the trails!
Stay Safe,
Lynda Darling, Jeep Mom
